DanceSport Competitons exist at every level and style of dance all over the world. There are Pro-Pro categories, Pro-Am categories and Am-Am categories.
Pro-Pro Competitions
Many of SO's staff compete worldwide at the highest levels of their particular dance style. SO has world champions and top titlists in Hustle, Mambo, Swing, Country Western, Argentine Tango, International Latin and Standard, and Rhythm and Smooth categories. Some top national competitions are broadcast on television throughout the year.
Pro-Am Competitions
Private Lesson Students may also decide to compete with their instructors at local DanceSport Competitions in the Professional/Amateur Division. Competing at the Pro-Am level requires a great deal of discipline and practice. Many students find this an ideal goal when starting a rigorous round of Private Lessons. Pro-Am Competitions take place throughout the U.S. and include venues for International Latin and Standard, American Smooth and Rhythm, and the Swing Dances.
Am-Am Competitions
Many students partner up and go on to compete in amateur competitions. SO's IACT! Program, directed by Linda Gammon, trains and prepares couples for the competition dance floor. For more information, contact Linda Gammon at info@steppingoutstudios.com.
