Our specially trained Wedding Dance Advisors can help you select your song, dance, and instructor, and custom tailor a program designed specifically for you.

Wedding Planning Services

FREE Wedding Consultation

3-6 months, although what counts is not so much the time as the amount of lessons. Time always gets a bit crunched as the big day arrives, so starting well in advance will prevent “cramming” in preparation. Depending on one’s budget, I always think it’s best to take lessons close together without much time in-between to forget the steps.
Convenience is essential. If the studio is not easy to get to, you may end up missing appointments or being late and this will be not only costly (as most studios charge for missed appointments) but very stressful. Also, be sure the studio specializes in wedding dances….Just because instructors are champions doesn’t mean they enjoy teaching couples for their weddings.
It is always best to keep this dance to no more than 3 minutes. Shorter is better, and if the song is a long one, it’s sometimes advised to have family join the dance part way through.
Every couple is different in their ability to learn, but in general we recommend at least 10 private sessions, and a few group classes….Of course practice will be a factor, and if the dance is fully choreographed and you really want it to look polished, then 20 private lessons would be a minimum.
Sometimes, but this isn’t always the case. It really depends on the couple. If there is enough time, then a choreographed routine can be a fun and exciting performance of sorts. But, in general, I recommend learning how to really partner dance, so the leader (usually the groom) can then guide the follower around the floor. This adds spontaneity and fun surprises that will not only delight the follower, but all the guests as well.
If you already hae your first song picked (or narrowed down to a couple of choices) bring copies of these, as the instructor can offer good advice regaridng the level of difficulty for the chosen song(s). Also, the focus of most wedding couples is their first dance, and knowing the style of this dance from the beginning will allow the instructor to start preparing it as soon as possible.
Gift Cards

Don’t know what to get for the wedding party? Gift cards toward group classes or private lessons are a unique way of saying thank you or congratulations. The cards are available in any denomination, and you can opt to email your gift card, or choose from several designs and print it out to present it in person.
