Claudio Asprea is an argentine tango dancer, teacher and choreographer from Buenos Aires who travels the world extensively performing and teaching Argentine Tango.
After being a member of the Teatro Argentino Ballet Company, Claudio started dancing argentine tango professionally in Buenos Aires in 1990, including tango performances at the most prestigious milongas in Buenos Aires: Salon Canning, Club Almagro, Parakultural, Flores de Tango, Gricel, Regim, Centro Cultural Torcuato Tasso, Salon Moreno, la Galeria del Tango, Dr. Jeckill; Porteño y Bailarin; Club Belgrano, etc.
In 1998 Claudio, together with Agustina Videla, performed at the Tango Argentino Show, officially representing the Argentine Republic at the Universal Lisboa Fair - Expo '98 (Portugal) . They took also part in many shows together with orchestras such as Sexteto Mayor, Color Tango, Nestor Narconi's Orchestra, Alfredo Marcucci's Veritango Sextet, Pablo Ziegler's Quintet for New Tango, Raul Jaurena's New York Tango Trio, Luis Borda's Quintet, and with the singers Amelita Baltar, Julia Zenko, Maria Volonté, Gabriel Reynal, among many others.
Claudio participated in many international tango festivals: Megaexposicion Tango (Buenos Aires, 1997); First International Tango Festival at Palais de Glace (Buenos Aires, 1997), World Tango Summit '98 (Lisboa, 1998); 4 KarlsruherTango Tage (Germany, 1999); 1st Porto International Tango Festival (Portugal, 2000); Umbria Winter #8 Festival (Orvieto, Italy); Hannover Tango Festival (Germany, 2001), New York Spice Summer Festival (US, 2001 & 2002), 'L'Eté du Tango' Festival (Nîmes, 2000; 2001 & 2002) , 7 Mainzer Festival (Germany, 2003); Tango Island Festival, Stockholm (Sweden, 2003); "White Nights Tango Festival" (Saint Petersburg (Russia, 2002/2003/2004); “V Frankfurter Tango Tage” (Germany, 2004); Portland Tango Festival (USA, 2004); New York Tango Festival 2005 (NY, USA), Moscow Tango Festival (Russia, 2006), Firenze Tango Festival (Florence, Italy, 2007).
Also appeared on TV Channels "Solo Tango" (Buenos Aires); ATC Argentina Televisora Color (on the weekly show "Tango 2000", in 1997), and on many others TV shows in Europe, USA, Canada and Russia.
Claudio created, performed and choreographed many Tango shows, including "Piazzolando" (with Astor Quarter), "Tango de Preto & Blanco" (with Mauricio Swartz Sextet), "Catalogo Tanguero" ( with Nueva Compania Tanguera directed by Mariachiara Michieli, and the Cesar Stroscio Sextet), "Postales Tangueras" (with the Cuarteto Almagro), etc.
Claudio Asprea and Agustina Videla produced and released in 2006 their argentine tango instructional DVD "Tango From the Heart", a 4-hours running time progressive learning method to learn how to dance tango
Claudio is the director and instructor of the intensive argentine tango seminars "Tango Holidays in Buenos Aires" (every year since 1999 in December), and "Tango Holidays in Tuscany" (every year in May and October since 2001).
